Ringhoffer Machine Works steam engine
At the end of last year, a steam engine from the collection of National technical museum was restored in our workshop.

The condition of the engine was rather good, without signs of excessive wear. The exception to this was a broken slide valve chamber. The engine worked a long time with the chamber repaired, but with excessive steam losses. This leakage was repaired in our workshop, the engine cleaned, reassembled and adjusted. All corrosion was removed by hand, including grease residues and other foreign objects. During assembly, no excessive wear of parts was found, so parts manufacture was kept to minimum, with the exception of a few missing dovel pins, pivots and screws. Damaged surface of parts was scraped and ground with emery paper. The surface was ground to satin finish and the painting was repaired and unified according to original intention of the machine works. After assembly, the setting of slide valve was adjusted, together with sealings and working clearance of bearings. Operation was tested using compressed air.
Steam engine made by Ringhoffer Machine Works, which could be seen in our exhibition as a result of long term lease, will soon bee seen in National technical museum.
